Herring re-elected as attorney general by flipping GOP strongholds
Four years ago, Democrat Mark Herring squeaked by Republican Mark Obenshain by just 165 votes to win the race for Virginia attorney general. But on Nov.7, Herring cruised to re-election against GOP nominee John Adams, winning by more than 176,000 votes while flipping usually conservative Virginia Beach and Chesapeake.

Democratic incumbent Mark Herring has won Virginia’s attorney general race, beating back a challenge from Republican John Adams. Herring won his second term Tuesday.
CNU’s Final Poll has Northam, Herring Leading
According to the poll, Northam leads his Republican rival, 51 percent to 45 percent. For attorney general, Democrat Mark Herring, who is seeking a second term, is ahead of Republican John Adams by 4 points.
